Our AI demo works. What does it take to use it in daily operations?

A working AI demo shows that an approach can succeed on selected examples. Using it in daily operations requires evidence that it performs acceptably across real situations, fits the business process and can be supported when something goes wrong.

Before rollout, address six areas:

• Scope and success criteria. Define the tasks the solution handles, its limits and acceptable levels of quality, response time and cost.
• Representative testing. Test normal cases, exceptions, incomplete inputs and misleading or malicious content. Compare results with the current way of working.
• Data and integrations. Connect approved information sources and systems, enforce access rights and handle unavailable services.
• Controls and recovery. Validate outputs, require approval for consequential actions and provide a manual fallback. Where the solution changes records, prevent duplicate or unintended actions.
• Monitoring and ownership. Assign responsibility for quality, incidents, usage costs and changes. Retest when models, prompts, data sources or integrations change.
• User readiness. Explain how the solution fits into daily work, when to question its output and where to get support.

Start with a limited rollout and explicit acceptance criteria. Expand when results demonstrate that the solution is useful and manageable.
