Why does it matter?

Business analysis is defined by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIAB) as "a disciplined approach for introducing change to organization" through management, processing, and interpretation of data and processes in order to "identify and define the solution that will maximise the value delivered by an organisation to its stakeholders"

Basically, a Business Analyst (BA) is a person who processes, interprets and documents business processes, products, services and software through analysis of processes and data. The top priority of a business analyst is to ensure business efficiency increases through their knowledge of both IT and business function. There are many business activities which the business analyst is involved in.

Successful business analysts should influence the business environment by providing reliable guidance in decision making for the future through observing data which reflects the behaviour of the business in the past. Business analysts are essential at all levels of a business, as both tactical and strategic planning require analysts who help with "incremental improvements to products, business processes, and applications".

Today, application development or process improvement projects follow often the principles of Agile-Scrum and are lead by a scrum team involving a product owner. As described in the Scrum Guide, a Product Owner is accountable for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the Scrum Team. Although a business analyst is different from a product owner, they are often seen as necessary resources (and are sometimes combined in one role) in today's digital and technology initiatives.

Within our line of services, our business analysts and product owners are mainly involved in projects related to digital initiatives, process optimalization projects, data insights or automation roadmaps.
